OoO is the winning project in an urban furniture competition organized by Başakşehir Living Lab and sponsored by Başakşehir Municipality in Istanbul. The project was a collaboration between our team and architect Ibrahim Sarıhan
The concept behind OoO was to design a shelter for street animals while providing a seating area for humans, hence, increasing the interaction between humans and animals.
The OoO has two different fabrication models. The first model, made of polyurethane, consists of interlocking modules with a width of 50 cm, thus providing a more flexible use. The second model, produced with the application of wooden shadow elements on hollow concrete blocks, creates a model that is more resistant to outdoor conditions and produced with more conventional production methods.
OoO project is designed to create a shared urban area that welcomes everyone in, including street animals. The formation was based on certain parameters that we executed using Grasshopper and Rhino3D, therefore, we ended up with a parametric design that we can alternate its height, width, thickness, and even the randomization of its form with the click of a button.
